Day 40: Everything that has happened the past three days seems so mild to what we have been going through. So no news is good news here.
Travis's vital signs have been really stable. His temperature is good. He is talking up a storm, sometimes making sense; sometimes not. He still is in a lot of pain. We have switched medicines again. I hope the switch we did today will help him. He doesn't sleep or eat much and has been in pain about one third of the time. Today his IVC filter was removed--no problems. His med-line IV got blocked up shortly after that, so it was pulled as well. We are down to a PEG tube and a foley. He is doing great that way. The less tubes the better.
The only crazy thing the last few days was with our one year old. We thought she swallowed magnets. A chest x-ray at Community Care revealed she had not. We still have not found those magnets, but we found our peace of mind. With all I have been through, the simple solution of just knowing rather than waiting was the best choice for me. The less unknowns the better--"Hakuna Matata."
I have brought the girls up for several short visits. They all enjoy being with their dad. Lily didn't like the "trach" tube and decided she only wanted to see her dad sleeping not talking. Once she saw that it was out, her face lit up like sunshine. She bubbled out,"He's better!"
